- By JUAN ZAMORANO - Associated Press
The public portion of a Panamanian trial of more than two-dozen associates accused of helping some of the world’s richest people hide their wealth has come to an unexpectedly speedy conclusion. A judge said Friday she would take the two weeks of trial arguments and testimony under advisem*nt. It's been eight years since 11 million secret financial documents were leaked. They became known as the “Panama Papers” and prompted the resignation of the prime minister of Iceland. The documents also brought scrutiny to the then-leaders of Argentina and Ukraine, Chinese politicians, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, among others. The judge has 30 working days to issue a decision.

Al DiazGreg Cote: Heat win! But did they, really? No Butler a big problem in brutal matchup vs. Celtics.

MIAMI — How hard would you fight to win if winning meant a hugely harder battle ahead — one everyone seemed sure you would lose decisively? Perhaps even embarrassingly. And that you’d have to undertake this biggest of challenges without your biggest star and top scorer?

Sudan's horrific war is being fueled by weapons from foreign supporters of rival generals, UN says
- By EDITH M. LEDERER - Associated Press
The U.N. political chief says the year-old war in Sudan between rival generals vying for power has sparked “a crisis of epic proportions” fueled by weapons from foreign supporters who continue to flout U.N. sanctions aimed at helping end the conflict. Undersecretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo told the U.N. Security Council on Friday that “this is illegal, it is immoral, and it must stop.” The African Union's Mohamed Ibn Chambas said external support for the warring parties “is the elephant in the room.” DiCarlo painted a dire picture of the war’s impact — over 14,000 people killed, tens of thousands wounded, looming famine with 25 million people in need of life-saving assistance, and over 8.6 million forced to flee their homes.

Mexican families searching for missing relatives unite to draw attention to their plight
- By FABIOLA SÁNCHEZ - Associated Press
Dozens of women and men have searched a garbage dump and other sites outside Mexico’s capital for missing loved ones without the protection of authorities. The action Friday was part of a nationwide effort to raise the profile of those who risk their lives to find others. Under a blazing sun and amid foul odors, they searched a dump in the town of Tepotzotlan, in Mexico state, which hugs Mexico City on three sides. Hundreds of collectives across Mexico are participating in search operations this weekend to draw attention to the work they are left to do in a county with nearly 100,000 people registered as missing.
