CHAPTER 2

Cecilia sits down at the usual table her and her friends usually get whenever they come here. The booth in the very back of the shop, one where you have to turn the corner to be able to see. They like it because it's away from most tables, and it's easy to get because everyone forgets its there.

They all agreed to meet at 2, but it's 1:55 and
she's there before her other 3 friends. She got ready fairly quickly and had nothing better to do with her free time, so she thought she could order her drink earlier and sit by herself for a few minutes.

Cecilia stood up to order her drink, her heart racing in her chest as her eye catches a boy with brown fluffy hair sitting at a table near the counter. Once her brain registers that the boy is not who she pictured in her head, she sighs of relief and continues walking to the counter.

She's over Matt. She has been for a year now. But she can still see him sometimes. She sees him when she drives by their old high school, she sees him when she's searching through her closet and finds the dress from the school dance they attended together in freshman year when they were "just friends", then the dress from sophom*ore year from the first dance they went to together as an official couple. She sees him in her favorite flowers, and most importantly, she sees him in random people who look remotely similar to him in public.

When she's at the counter, she notes that the girl taking her order has the same hair color as her, but it's slightly shorter. Same eye color too. Her name tag says the name Lyda, who she can tell is younger than her. Lyda reminds her of 16 year old Cecilia. The age she was when her and Matt first said 'I love you' to each other.

What is with the flashbacks today?

The best way she can describe it is Matt is like a ghost who haunted her house, but over time became an occasional visitor who only came back just to say "Hey, I still exist! Don't forget about me!" And she's just waiting for the day the ghost never visits her f*cking house ever again. It's been over a year since the last time she's spoken to him, and most of the time he stays far away from her mind. But occasionally, he'll show up in a dream, or in a snapchat memory, or in strangers in cafe's.

Once she orders, she returns to her table and sees Lisa had sent her a text letting her know she's here. She peaked her head out and saw her walking through the doors, getting up to give her a hug and walking back to the booth together.

"Did you see?" Lisa asks as she sits down across from Cecilia.

"See what?"

"So you know your ex boyfriend?"

You've got to be f*cking kidding me.

Cecilia fiddles with her necklace nervously. "Yeah, I know of him.." she sarcastically replies, curious to see where this is going to go.

"He's here. Like, in Boston."

Amazing!

Her head tilts in curiosity to Lisa knowing this and not her. Then, an idea pops into her head.

"..How did you know that?" She asks, already knowing the answer.

"It was on their instagram—"

"Why were you on their instagram?"

Lisa's face goes red as Cecilia starts erupting in laughter. "I knew it."

"Oh my god I don't have a thing for Chris anymore. That was years ago. But like.. I get curious once in awhile you know?"

As Lisa says that, Gianna and Celina suddenly appear in the corner of their eyes, sitting down quickly. Both of them looking startled.

"Sorry we're late, Belellish broke down so I had Gianna pick me up," Celina tells the group as she takes a seat next to Lisa and Gianna sits next to Cecilia.

Lisa's eyebrows furrow. "Belellish...?"

"Yeah, it's what I named my car!"

"What does it mean though.." Cecila adds on.

"I really don't know but anyways, how are you guys?" Celina questions in an unsettled tone. Cecilia glances at Lisa who's already looking at her, both of them noticing how off Celina seems. They look over at Gianna, who seems to be acting the exact same way.

"What are you guys looking at me for?" Gianna immediately accuses, her eyes widening as she looks back at Celina. She peaks her head out to look behind the booth, then a split second after snapping her head back with her eyes shut tight.

"What are you looking at?" Cecilia questions, but knows neither of them will give her an answer so she takes matters into her own hands. She stands up slightly to look over the booth, and her eyes go so wide they almost pop out of her head. Because she swore she saw Matt.

"Jesus, I thought that was Matt." Cecilia says as she sat back down. Celina and Gianna's eyebrows furrow. "It was just Chris."

Pause.

Lisa's jaw drops as Cecilia realizes what she just said. "Wait." She slowly looks over the booth again to see the boy who is, in fact, Chris Sturniolo, then sees Nick and of course, Matt, walking towards the door to enter. As Nick grabs the door handle, Cecilia sits back down in her seat and prays none of them saw her.

"There's actually zero f*cking way this is happening right now."
