I don't know about you, but when the weather gets cooler, I love a good bowl of chili. At the earliest hint of fall, I break out my largest stew pot and whip the best easy chili recipe with ground beef. I love how simple this recipe is. Since I use quality, flavorful ingredients from Hunt's, Bush's and Ro*tel, there's less leg-work to do.

One quick trip to Walmart and you can grab everything you need.

I'm not kidding, this recipe is SO good and easy. It also makes a large batch! We usually eat half of the batch for dinner then freeze the other half to use later for chili dogs. The kids love them and I think the chili might actually taste better the second time around. There is nothing better than being able to pull a homemade meal out of the freezer and having a hearty meal on a busy weeknight.

I love using Hunt's tomatoes since they're always picked at peak of ripeness and canned within hours. They're also 100% natural, with no artificial preservatives, so I feel good about feeding them to my family.

Adding BUSH’S® Chili Beans to the mix really spices things up! The beans are simmered in their original chili sauces, made with a special blend of chilies, spices, garlic and onions for mega flavor. For this recipe, I use a mixture of their Pinto, Black, and Kidneybeans, all in the chili sauce. My secret little ingredient is Ro'Tel Chili Fixin's. It's just the perfect blend of spicedtomatoes and green chilies.

  • 1can Ro'Tel Chili Fixin's
  • 1lb.of ground beef

  • 1teaspoonground cumin
  • 1teaspoonsaltor more to taste
  • ½teaspoonpepper
  • 1tbspolive oil

Instructions

  1. Brown your ground beef in the olive oil, then drain.

  2. Add all Bush's beans, Hunt's tomatoes, and Ro'Tel Chili Fixin's

  3. Add all spices.

  4. Bring to a boil and then lower heat until chili simmers for at least 30 minutes. You can simmer for longer (like 4-6 hours), just be sure to stir occasionally.

After simmering this delicious chili, I like to garnish each bowl with a dollop of sour cream, cheddar cheese, and green onions. It adds a bit of color and really adds some tang and great flavor.

Since the prices at Walmart are so affordable, I can usually make a batch for less around $15. Since our family of 4 gets at least 2 dinners out of this, that means I'm feeding our family a substantial meal for less than $2 a serving. I think that's pretty amazing!

You could even create this dish using your slow cooker. Just brown the meat off on the stove, then add all your ingredients to your slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8-10 hours. This would be perfect for bringing to tailgate or potluck too.

Are you ready to cook up some chili? Walmart has everything you need, like our key ingredients fromHunt’s, Ro*tel, and Bush’s. They've even got other great chili recipes, and some with regional flair and flavors, for inspiration. Head over to Walmart.com to check them out.

This is almost the same chili as I make even the brand of beans and the kinds. I usually add a large can of diced tomatoes than smaller can of ro'Tel. I also add a can of hominy or chickpeas I think it adds to the chili. I also like to dump in all in the crock pot and cook it all day long. I keep enough out for 3 bowls and then freeze the rest in individual ziplocks layed flat. I usually end up with about 8 bags so lots of meals for me. As a matter of fact having a bowl now :-0

I have yet to find "the best" chili recipe. My Moms Club actually has a chili cook-off this weekend, so I may make this for it. I love that this recipe calls for 3 different types of beans.

I've never tried canned beans in chili sauce. My husband is the chili maker in our house. I'll have to let him know.
