Collaboration and Decision-making.Is AI going to be a good thing or a new way for people to isolate themselves from each other? Is it going to improve collaboration and group problem-solving or it is going to increased real competition between individuals around workplace performance?I hope not the latter, because engagement and collaboration are pretty bad today. We can do so much more to positively impact our organizational cultures to make them BETTER places to work, to decrease employee turnover and improve trust and all that good stuff that benefits performance.Quick paragraph on impacts: Gallup research shows highly engaged teamsshow a 21% greater profitability compared to less engaged teams. They also showed companies with a strong focus on employee wellbeing had a 17% increase in productivity. Kenexa(acquired by IBM) showedorganizations with a strong culture outperform their peers in total shareholder return by412%over a five-year period. And Willis Towers Watsonshowedcompanies with a strong culture experience2 times higher revenue growthand4 times higher shareholder returncompared to those with weak cultures. Plus, Perceptyxshowed that the high-culture organizations see a70%lower employee turnover ratecompared to low-culture organizations. What are your thoughts? Do you see AI as a tool for better collaboration, or are you worried about isolation? Maybe there's a middle ground we haven't considered? Share your ideas! 🤔

This may have impacts on any number of workplaces and have impacts on talent retention and innovation."The Federal Trade Commission narrowly voted Tuesday to ban nearly all noncompetes, employment agreements that typically prevent workers from joining competing businesses or launching ones of their own."https://lnkd.in/evwz6_wx

AI and innovation and people and decision-making ... I am just off a fantastic presentation by Karl Kapp and some colleagues about learning and AI and teaching. So much food for thought that it makes my head spin. Thus, in my somewhat dizzy state, I thought of Linda Blair and went on to YouTube to find a video. Wacthing the video, and thinking of the key role that The Priest has in all this, I wondered who the guy would be in a modern organization. Maybe the CFO? And maybe AI rollout across his organization has him scared and wanting to act? 😳 😜 You tell me. https://lnkd.in/dS4Ru9HP

Moron Teambuilding (and a Darwin Award):A group of employees were happy to escape work and be bussed around on a day tour by their company as a team building event (23 August 1997, Holland) . It was a sunny day, and some of the more boisterous employees enjoyed sticking their heads out a rooftop window. The driver of the speeding bus told them several times to pay attention to the road and stop their foolishness, but no, this was a TEAM BUILDING EVENT!Two men had their heads out of the window, singing as the wind blew across their faces, when the bus entered a viaduct. The cracking of bone was heard throughout the bus. Their heads did not come off cleanly, as you might expect, but the men fell dead into the bus with cracked heads and broken necks. It's just more evidence about properly selecting a team building event. One can watch White Mile, a movie about a whitewater rafting trip gone bad or read about Burger King's interesting Firewalk (Dave Berry's really funny summary: https://lnkd.in/eEncCWYn)Note: Being ejected from either an open or closedsunroof kills roughly 300 people each year between 1997 to 2008, and injures 1,400.
