What Does The Bolt Pattern Number Measure?

Bolt pattern (otherwise known as lug pattern or stud pattern) is a pretty simple measurement. Take a wheel with a bolt pattern of 6x5.5 for example - the "6" denotes that there are six lug nut holes around the center of the wheel, and the "5.5" means that there are five and a half inches between the center of the top lug and bottom lug. On bolt patterns with an even number of lugs, this distance goes from the center of the top lug to the bottom of the center cap, in between the two lugs on the opposite side.

What Stud Patterns Are There For My Truck?

Because trucks are heavier than cars and their axles need more contact points to accommodate the higher power and torque output, most truck wheels will have six-lug wheel sizes at the bare minimum, though heavier duty three-quarter ton and full-ton trucks will usually have eight-lug wheels. This is basically universal, too, so the bigger your truck is, the higher the chance you'll need more lugs on it. The only difference here is the distance between them.

We've taken the liberty of putting the most common lug patterns for each recent truck model below in the following tables. Once you get to your make model, it's a good chance that your truck will have that lug pattern, although we always recommend checking first.
