I swung a metal pipe at whatever turned the corner. "AH! OW!" I hit a boy? 14-15 years old, he was on the taller side tall, with an athletic, skinnier build. He had short-cropped sandy blonde hair, blue eyes, a sharp nose, and the sneaky look like he belong in the Hermes cabin. I quickly pulled out my dagger, blade facing away from me but I held it somewhat close to my chess. I slowly and cautiously backed away from the boy. He rubbed his head where I'd hit him, while two girls rounded the corner, one looking very punk, with electric blue eyes, black clothes, and spiky hair, also about 14-15 years old, the second looking like the "typical California girl," with blonde hair and curls that give her a Cinderella-esque appearance, probably 6-7 years old.
"Luke!" The punk girl knelt beside him putting her hand on his shoulder checking if he was ok.
"I'm fine, but damn-"he rubbed his head. "That hurt."
"Stay back!" I ordered. I was in a fighting stance a good distance away from the trio.
"WHAT HAPPENED!? LUKE! Are you ok." A satyr also rounded the corner. Wait, a satyr with curly brown hair, brown eyes, small horns, a wispy beard... sh*t. That was Grover. If Grover was sent out he was either sent out for the kids Infront of me or Mr. D's desperate. Grover looked up to see what hit Luke, when he saw me his eyes went wide. "Aster?!"
"Stay Back!" I commanded.
"Mr. Ds been worried sick! Yelling at Chiron, he's got satyrs everywhere looking for you. I mean if your mom found out you ran from camp, she'd blame Mr. D."
"Well... I don't care, if Mr. D's gets yelled at a little, I hate that stupid camp and I've been there my whole life. I wanted out of there!"
I was a good 20-ish feet from them, still backing up when the punk girl charged me. She had a spear and shield with Medusa's head carved on it. When she got to me she tried to jab me with the spear which i counted by grabbing it just before it hit my abdomen, I then turned and tugged the spear causing the girl to come forward and I elbowed her in the face. The younger girls face got really angry which caused her to pull out a dagger and also charged me, while Grover backed up and the boy, who they called Luke... so I guess that's his name, got up. I hit the younger girl in the head with the hilt of my dagger, which caused the punk girl and Luke to attack me at the same time. Luke was able to hit me in the head with the hilt of his sword.
"sh*t!" I shot up in my bed, and for a moment the only sound was my heavy breathing. I sat there in the dead set of night, freaking out over a dumb memory. I had met Luke, Thalia, And Annabeth years ago. That was 4 years ago to be exact. Luke is now 17 while Annabeth is now 10, and Thalia's a tree, courtesy of her father Zeus. *KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK* "huh?" Who the is up at... damn it. Apparently the 'dead set of night' to me means 5:00 in the damn morning. Tiredly I throw my legs over the edge of the bed and stand up. While walking to the cabin door I try to wipe the sleep from my eyes and fail terribly at it.
"Spring, its already five get up!"
f*ck! Of course they made Castellan come and get me. "Spring! Come on!" he yelled through the door, again. For a second I contemplated opening the door but I'm sure he'd barge in if I didn't.
"Gods Castellan I get it, stop yelling." When I opened the door, Luke was in the usual orange camp half-blood shirt parried with blue jeans and the classic clay bead necklace everyone at camp owned. While I had a bunch of beads, on few different necklaces, Luke and Annabeth only had the one from last year, Thalia's tree. The newest bead on my newest necklace as 16 beads doesn't fit on one necklace.
"So you say you get it but your not even in your camp shirt?" He smirked at me.
I looked down and sadly he was right, I was in a foo fighters t-shirt and some pajama shorts. "If I could kill you and not lose desert privileges, I would."
"I feel like you would lose more than just desert privileges, but as you should know, counselor meeting in like 10 minutes, so, get dressed and stuff. Kay?"
"Kay, now go fiend."
I imedatly closed the door in his face after I finished my sentance. I walk away from the door after I hear Castellan walk away from the other end. I've known him for 4 years and never once has he done something that would make me like him. You'd think after 3 years of trying to survive monsters together we would've come to some kind of agreement, but I guess first impressions do matter. I walk over to my dresser right-side of my room? Cabin?
I am the only demigod child Persephone, and that's coming from the goddess herself. So the wood nymphs helped me build a small cabin away from the rest, as for most of my life I was in the Hermes cabin with full knowledge of who my godly parent was but because she wasn't one of the 12 Olympians, she never got a cabin. Well not an official cabin, Mr. D says that the other 12 Olympians would find disrespectful. So Zeus and Hera would find it disrespectful, because they are the big 2 in charge.
Anyway I pull out a orange camp half-blood shirt, a pair of blue jean shorts, and a pair of socks that go half way up my shin. After I change into my outfit for the day, I put my hair in to a bun and I put on my very dirty white converse and walk out the cabin door. It takes me about 3-ish minutes to get to the big house, where Silena Beauregard is waiting on the front porch.
"I swear if you tell me I'm late, Castellan told me 10 minutes." I told her while hold all ten fingers up.
"Oh I well awrare he told you 10 minutes, but guess who just so happens to not be here. Waiting." She gave a sarcastic smile.
"Wow, Castellan's late! No Way!" I commented back sarcastically.
"I'm here now, and only a-"
"Your a officially a minute late, Luke.'' Silena informed him.
"Damn it!"
Silena rolled her eyes at Luke and walked in the front of the house, followed by me and then Luke, who closed the door behind him. There are 12 cabins in all not counting mine, and most of them have a head counselor. The only ones that don't, are gods who aren't supposed to have kids, so Zeus and Poseidon. And the goddesses whom are maidens, so Artemis and Hera. While Athena is indeed a maiden she can have brain babies or something like that. Mr. D allowed me to be a head counselor because I technicality have my own cabin.
But the cabins that do have head counselors are Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Athena, Demeter, Dionysius, Hephaestus, and Hermes. Silena Beauregard is the head counselor of Aphrodite, Lee Fletcher is the head counselor of Apollo, Clarisse La Ruse is the head counselor of Ares, Annabeth Chase is the head counselor of Athena, Katie Gardner is the head counselor of Demeter during the summer while her sister, Miranda Gardener is head counselor during the other seasons, Mr. Ds twins, Caster and Pollux, are both head counselor of his cabin, Charles Beckendorf is the head counselor of Hephaestus, Luke is the head counselor of Hermes, and on a technicality I am the head of Persephone.
We meet once a month to decide schedules because Mr. D hates doing that stuff. We make our meetings about an hour long because of how much Clarisse argues with everyone else. None of the head counselors ever really leave camp for the school year or anything else at that, we are mainly year rounders. When we finally get to the meeting room Clarisse is already arguing with the other counselors about how her cabin should get to pick all of their activates first because its been awhile since she got that ability. 2 months, its been 2 months since she got first pick.
"Hey!" Charles yelled over Clarisse. Every counselor looked at us and the ones that were standing to argue with Clarisse sat.
"Hey." Luke dumbly said before taking a seat by Lee.
Charles sat at the head of the table Silena sat on his left and I sat next to Silena. Will was on Charles' right and next to Lee was Luke. On my Left sat Katie, next to them sat Clarisse. On Luke's left sat Annabeth, next them sat Pollux and at the other end of the table sat Caster.
"Ok, heh, so as we have discussed" Charles did air quotes for that last part. "The Ares cabin cannot have first pick due to them having first pick only 2 months ago."
"Oh, we can't have first pick after 2 months but Athena cabin can have one month after the other just because Aster is "associating" with them?! THAT IS A DUMB RULE!!" Clarisse butted in and then proceeded to yell.
"Clarisse we all agreed to that rule." Silena told her, sounding really annoyed at it.
"I DID NOT, agree to that ridiculous rule."
"There is literally a poll, Clarisse." Silena explained
"On paper too." I add helpfully.
"Right, we only allowed this rule because Aster is a solo cabin and we tried to get her to work with the Hermes cabin but she profusely denied that idea." Charles went back to leading the meeting. "And while on this topic, Aster it is turn to pick first, would you still like to pair with Athena cabin or-"
"Nah, I'm going with the Apollo cabin." I cut Charles off. "Sorry, for cutting you off."
"Your fine, ok this means you and Lee have to come up with your schedules. Which also means Luke and Aster have to switch seats." Luke and I quick changed seats and while the meeting continued stuff about chores. Once me and Lee were done deciding on our schedule we waited till the table discussion was done, then we gave the schedule to Charles so he could make the rest of the schedules. Our schedule looked like:
Sunday-Saturday-Weeks 1-4-Month-June-Start of summer-Cabin(s) Apollo and Persephone
Breakfist-6:00-7:00 a.m.
Morning Activity/Archery-7:00-10:00 a.m.
Morning Activity 2/Training- 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.
Lunch-12:00-1:00 p.m.
Afternoon Activity/Med training/cabin specific training- 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Full camp activity-3:00-6:00 p.m.
Dinner-6:00-7:00 p.m.
Campfire-7:00-8:00 p.m.
Bedtime-8:00-9:00 p.m.
"Ok, just to be sure, Lee and Aster you guys are fine with training with the Hermes cabin, and Luke you're also fine with this?" Charles asked us after assessing all of the schedules everyone made based of mine and Lees.
"I mean I got no problem with it." Luke said while looking over his schedule for the 12th time.
"It's fine with me, beating Castellans ass for the 1,000th time sounds like fun." I told Beckendorf.
"Yea, we've done this before, we can do it again." Lee informed Beckendorf , while helping the Dionysius twins with their schedules.
"Cool, so Silena and Katie, y'all are fine with training with on another?"
"Yea." Silena said cheerfully, well aware the meeting is ending soon.
"Yep." Katie answered as if this meeting was killing them.
"Then Clarisse your fine with training with my cabin and Athenas?"
"Yea, huh." Clarisse said while cleaning out her fingernails
"Annabeth your fine with this too?"
"Absolutely." she said while writing something down on the back of their paper.
"Then we are all cool with our schedules?"
"Yea." Everyone answered collectively.
"Cool, then lets wake up our cabins and go to breakfast." Beckendorf announced.
