Easy Skillet Flatbread Recipe (No Yeast) (1)

Have you tried finding yeast in the store lately? It’s like a real-life scavenger hunt! The shelves are empty but if you get lucky, you just might find a pack that someone placed in the wrong spot! Fortunately, this no yeast flatbread is so delicious and satisfying that you won’t even miss the yeast…

This clean eating recipe is also kid-friendly! It’s a great way to keep the kids busy and to teach them basic bread-making techniques. It goes great with Vegetarian Chili or with this delicious Pork stew recipe. You can also turn it into mini pizzas, of course!

The dough will be kneaded for a few minutes but it isn’t as critical as kneading bread, so it’s a great learning experience!

No Yeast Pizza Dough

If your family is anything like mine, you have tried making pizza crust out of just about everything. These flatbreads are no exception. Because we added garlic powder to the dough, it was perfect for pizzas or breadsticks.

As soon as they came out of the pan we were smothering them with pizza sauce and adding our favorite toppings! Delish!!

This flatbread wasn’t originally intended to be a pizza crust but it sure does work. It’s a toss-up between making this as our dough and making calzones!

Check out our video below. This was a Facebook live video that we did in our Facebook Group! We should step by step how to make this flatbread!

What is the best way To Knead Dough

Like I mentioned, you won’t need to knead this very much. In this recipe, you are essentially just trying to bring the dough together so you can work with it.

But it’s a great way to teach the kids how to knead dough (or brush up on your kneading skills).

There is a trick to kneading but it is easy, so I’ll walk you through it:

Keep extra flour next to you to keep the dough from sticking to the table.

When you knead, use the palm of your hands. Press down and forward in a swooping motion. Start with your hands close to your body then push away from you.

Once you knead it once, fold the dough in half, pick it up and turn it 1/4 clockwise.

Repeat this step until the dough forms into a ball. That’s it!

How Do You Make Flatbread From Scratch?

Flatbread is my go-to bread recipe because it is so fast and easy. It doesn’t require yeast, proofing or humidity.

Let’s keep is simple!

Skillet Flatbread Mix Ins

Once you make these skillet flatbreads, there will be no going back!

We added garlic powder to the dough but you can leave it out. You could also try adding different herbs to change the flavor. Here are a few of our favorite mix-ins:

  • Thyme
  • Crushed garlic (serve flatbread with olive oil & balsamic)
  • Oregano, basil and garlic powder
  • Herb de Province
