Hi All,
I found this brilliant forum after buying a Peugeot 107 (3-Door) for my son from a local trader and am hoping for some advice regarding sorting out a leak that seems to be around the top rear corner - possibly the tailgate hinge.
When we picked up the car I noticed that the top left rear corner of the head lining was wet as was the left rear seat so agreed with the trader to take the car back later to be sorted. However, the dealer has since done a vanishing act so I need to resolve it myself. Temporarily sealing across the top and left side of the tailgate (including high level brake light) as well as along the left roof trim strip with duct tape has allowed the interior to dry out so I'm guessing that the water is most likely coming in around the left tailgate hinge or the high level brake light.
Before disturbing those I'd like to confirm my theory by using a hose on the outside and watching for the water entry point from inside but I'll need to drop the roof lining a bit so I can see. It looks like its held up across the back by some trim panel fasteners but not sure about elsewhere so how easy is it to lower the lining enough to see the inside of the hinge and brake light without damaging the lining or its fasteners?
Also, I see that the hinge retaining bolt has a spline on the tip (Torx) so wondered if that is to stop the bolt from rotating when the securing nut is loosened? I don't want to undo the nut and find the bolt drops inside where I can't reach it so any advice would be much appreciated.

That or possibly need to seal the boot seal more better as had water leak coming from the top left corner like yourself but have made the seal more tighter by squeezing the seal and put some weather resistant sealant which has sorted the problem for me

My advice for what it's worth.
Remove the spare wheel, you might have a swimming pool in there that done move on.
Some people have success sealing the brake light.
I didn't, just made a mess, would recommend replacing it.
Comes with a new seal.
Remove all the carpets at the back, makes leak finding much easier.
Could be the rear lights.
The vents behind the rear bumper, but l don't think so.
My favourites are brake seal or boot rubber.

As the roof lining in the top corner was wet I'm inclined to rule out anything lower down like the light cluster seal or the vents behind the bumper as they are at a lower level. The duct tape is coming off tomorrow so I can have a better look round because since we got the car, the weather has been pretty crap so my priority was to stop more water getting in which the tape did.
I'm more interested in knowing how to get behind the roof lining so I can see the area around the high level brake light and tailgate hinge to see if that's where the leak is.
Naturally, I'll check out the boot as well in case there is more than one leak - quite possible !

What l wrote about the spare wheel well was only to check if it's because it may be swimming in there.
If so remove the 2 bungs.
From memory there is a rubber strip along the roof holding the lining up and sealing it to the roof. It goes all down the the sides. Check the car you can see it.

Hi brixtonboy,
Took all the duct tape off today and had a good look around the spare wheel well - no swimming pool but then one of the rubber bungs was laying loose so put that back. The underlay of the boot carpet was a bit damp on the left side but that was from the original leak so taken out and dried now. Also, when I removed the rubber tailgate seal, it had obviously been sealed before with white silicone sealant. I stripped all that off, squeezed the rubber seal together so it was a tighter fit onto the lip of the tailgate opening and then put it back with some fresh acrylic bathroom sealant. At the moment, I've left the parcel shelf, spare wheel and boot floor carpet out. I've also released the panel clips holding the roof lining up so that when the next rain comes I can see from inside if water is getting past the tailgate seal.

It's not a major job to remove the side carpets and the rear piece then you may be able to see entry point/exit points better. You could also try adjust the rear glass, a little.

Useful photo - thanks. I haven't removed the side or back carpet yet but some of the panel fixings were missing already so obviously had attention before. Once we get rain or I use a hose and see if any water is still getting in I can take them out without too much effort. Didn't want to hose anything yesterday in order to let the sealant cure.

It's better not to jet stream it directly l found, just hose it from from the Heavens. With someone inside.
