This fun Halloween co*cktail uses candy corn to make and infused vodka and then pairs it up with pineapple juice and cream for one delicious drink.

Candy corn finds its way into our house in a variety of ways this time of the year. I use it in crafts all the time. Check out my terra cotta candy dish and my clay pot candy corn holder for some fun ideas.

Believe it or not, there is even a candy corn plant that celebrates the layers of color in this fall candy.

Today, the layers of this plant’s flowers, as well as the look of the traditional fall candy, are the inspiration for this Halloween co*cktail.

A drink that doubles as a dessert!

I love the classic look of this drink. It has three delicious layers with a candy coated rim for a co*cktail that is sure to have you asking “Is it a drink, or is this dessert?”

Whichever way you answer, there is one clear fact – it’s darned delicious!Candy Corn Martini Recipe - Halloween co*cktail with Three Layers (2)

You will need three ingredients and a little bit of time up your sleeve since you will be making vodka that has been infused with candy corn.

  • candy corn vodka
  • pineapple juice
  • heavy cream

You will also need cheesecloth and some sprinkles to coat your glass rim.

How to make candy corn vodka

Start the day before by adding 1/4 cup of candy corn to 6 ounces of vodka in a Mason jar with a lid. Let the vodka sit until the candy breaks down and the color of the vodka changes. I left mine a couple of days.

When you come back the next morning, your vodka will have taken on a bright orange color and the candy pieces will have started to break down.

If you leave it another day, the vodka will take on even more of the candy flavor.

Now, you will need to some cheesecloth to strain the vodka. As much as you want the candy flavoring, you won’t want bits of the candy floating in your drink!Candy Corn Martini Recipe - Halloween co*cktail with Three Layers (4)

I placed several layers of cheesecloth over the opening of a co*cktail shaker.

Straining the candy corn infused vodka is easy. Just pour the vodka in and then make a ball and squeeze the cheesecloth until the liquid comes out into a glass but the candy residue stays in the cheesecloth.Candy Corn Martini Recipe - Halloween co*cktail with Three Layers (5)

You will end up with a bright clear orange liquid that tastes like candy corn but has the alcohol content of vodka.

Common questions about candy corn vodka

Since you are making this vodka and not purchasing it, there are a few things you may wonder about.

Does it matter how far ahead I make the infused vodka?

The more you allow the flavor of the candy corn to infuse with the vodka, the stronger the flavor of it will be. For that reason, give yourself time to make it.

I have seen some sites way that you can infuse the vodka in just four hours. The candy in mine barely started to break down the same day. The vodka and candy will just enjoy hanging out together, so give them plenty of time to combine.

I had my Mason jar on the counter for 2 days before I made my drinks.

How long with the infused vodka last?

Once again, there is nothing to go bad in the mix, so this infused vodka will last a long time – months, if not years. However, I would advise making what you need for your Halloween party this year simply so you don’t have to store it.

Making the candy corn martini

Start with a chilled glass. There is no ice in the drink so you will want to start with a cold glass.

Pour out a generous helping of candy corn sprinkles on a plate. These tiny round sprinkles are a mixture of orange, yellow and white that resemble the colors of candy corn.

Dip the rim of your glass into some corn syrup and then into the sprinkles to give the glass a nice coating all the way around.Candy Corn Martini Recipe - Halloween co*cktail with Three Layers (6)

Making the layers of the candy corn martini

I would consider this a moderately difficult drink to prepare, mainly because of the layers. Once I got the hang of doing them, it was easy, but you should practice with other liquids before you use your candy corn vodka.

This photo shows the technique in a shot glass, which you could use for your practice, so you don’t use up your infused vodka while you practice.Candy Corn Martini Recipe - Halloween co*cktail with Three Layers (7)

The cream layer is the easiest one to perfect, so it’s shown in the middle here, but in the actual drink the cream goes on the top!

The trick is to start with the heaviest sugar layer first – the candy corn vodka. The technique involves using an upside down spoon to pour in the liquids very slowly.

I placed the candy corn vodka layer in first with just a normal pour. Next, I touched the inside edge of the martini glass above the candy corn vodka layer and poured the pineapple juice over the spoon, very slowly.

Finally, I repeated this step with the heavy cream. It flowed over the top beautifully and stayed there. When you are done, you’ll have a beautiful drink with three different layers.Candy Corn Martini Recipe - Halloween co*cktail with Three Layers (8)

Note: My pineapple juice was a very light yellow and the colors didn’t show well in my photo. A drop of yellow gel food coloring in the pineapple juice would get this layer and darker color if you want the distinction of the three separate colors.

How does this candy corn martini taste?

The flavor is creamy and sweet with a kick at the end from the vodka. Be sure to drink this one slowly – it is one of those co*cktails that tastes so good, it’s easy to drink it quickly but you’ll pay for it later if you do! 😉
